The Method To The Madness
Hello, world. My name is Tommy Cannon. I like to write, make art and
tell jokes.
Not always in that order.
I have spent a lifetime pursuing those pursuits. I have had good success at it at varying levels.
I
enjoy sock puppets myself, I consider it folk art... art of the
people. I also consider cartoons to be art of the people. I have
learned that although they may appear simple on the surface they are
strikingly complex and hard to pull off well. I've loved cartoons since
childhood. Simple drawings with that slightly humorous appeal are
always super compelling to me.
It could be the Disney take on Aladdin
or a fuzzy screen capture from an episode of Roger Ramjet, it doesn't
matter, I just love it.
I read somewhere decades ago that the word "cartoon" was originally used to "describe the drawing an artist makes
on the canvas before painting".
